Possible Future Plans
I enjoyed the solstice evening, thanks. This is just a suggestion but I wondered if it might be worth doing something in conjunction with Wiki Wednesday , since there haven't been any since March in London, and there might be enough overlap of interest and motivation? The Wiki Wednesday I went to was very formal whereas the Networking Club was very informal so perhaps a combined event could aim somewhere in the middle. Just a thought. Meeting in another pub and drinking cider is also fine by me. --Andy Roberts 21:02, 23 June 2006 (BST)
- Yes, I would certainly like to hook up with Wiki Wednesday Gordo 21:33, 23 June 2006 (BST)

Since the committee had little feedback on the venue choice for June 21st, the committee setteled on the Pommelers Rest, near Tower Bridge on the South side of the River.
Standard J. D. Wetherspoon pub, fairly large, 100% non-smoking. 10 minutes walk from London Bridge station (along Tooley Street). "Improved recipe" item are available from the menu.
Address: 196/198 Tower Bridge Road, London, SE1 2UN (for your favourite mapping website).
The Pommeler's Rest is a pub of two halves. One has screens showing the World Cup 2006 and more space. The second half is the area reserved for children and has no screens.
Standard JDW menus with "improved recipes"!!
Children in the pub must obey the rules
Children can stay in the pub until 9:00 pm (21:00) subject to a set of rules.
I wonder how they enforce these rules....
CHILDREN LICENCE RULES

- ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES
- SEATED ONLY IN A DESIGNATED AREA
- CONSUMING A SUBSTANTIAL MEAL, NOT CRISPS ETC.
- FINISHED AND TABLES VACATED BY 9:00 PM

Thank you

... Frank Winfield Woolworth opened his first “Woolworth’s” store in Utica, New York in 1878. That store failed within a year. He opened a second store on 1879-06-21 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This store became a success. Frank Woolworth brought his brother Charles Sumner Woolworth into the business and together they, and others, began to open more stores. The stores were often opened in partnership with other businesspeople. The Woolworths also entered into partnerships with “friendly rivals”, who operated independently but co-operated in order to maximize their purchasing power for their inventories.

Jake: Mr Fabulous, how marvellous it is to see you. You're looking younger than ever. Mr Fabulous: Wait, you guys can't come in here. Jake: Nonsense my dear fellow, my brother and I have come to dine to celebrate my early release from the service of the state. Mr Fabulous: Wait, let's talk outside. Let's have a cup of coffee outside. Jake: Why heavens no! We seek a full meal and all the compliments of the house. Come Elwood let us adjourn ourselves to the nearest table and overlook this establishment's board of fare.
