DLR's suspended
Right! Heading there now. I notice the DLR suspended today by the way : http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/im/RD-T.html
...Francine and I will be going on District line anyway. Hopefully getting there in time to grab some lunch in the cafe place.

Very pleasant afternoon walk
Well that was a very pleasant afternoon walk. Lovely weather. You should arrange that for next time! Francine and Paula enjoyed it too I think. Thanks for organsing and giving us the talks. Interesting to see that old pumping station and the big sewer pipes (Not to mention the private allotment tour) Good mapping opportunity too of course.

OpenStreetMap Map
I've updated the OpenStreetMap database with most of the information I can see from my geo-tagged photos. One thing I still need to do is make some corrections to the extent of the construction zone for the olympics site. It's clearly much larger than the area shown on the map at the moment, so I'll have a guess at where that needs to extend to. Need to do that before wednesday when the main tileset gets re-rendered.
Anyway I'll try to come up with a nice looking map image (open licensed of course!) for you to put on this page, illustrating the route and the some points of interest.

- Black number circles relate to the points of interest list on the page there. Yellow is the main loop route. Light blue are the various diversions.
- More resolution. Also available in SVG format (allowing you to edit the raw vectors in software such as inkscape. Couldn't upload that file though. It's very big for some reason. 3.2Mb.

- Note the map isn't just a route overlaid on top of an OpenStreetMap image, I've customised the map graphic (using inkscape) to tidy it up. I corrected some of the rendering quirks, including moving some street names, removing extraneous one-way arrows and A/B road markers. I've also made the area around Bromley-by-Bow station much clearer, including pedestrian underpasses, to make it easier to find the place.
- This has been made possible by the recently added 'Export' tab feature of OpenStreetMap, which makes it very easy to get a map in SVG format, giving you full graphical editing power. Try doing that with google maps! -- Harry Wood 11:37, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
